The streets of Cauterets have been dyed white again this Tuesday, after an intense snowfall that in these first hours, has left between 10 to 30 centimeters of snow depending on the heights, which allows to consolidate the almost meter and a half of maximum thickness that it has on the slopes.
Cauteretes will be the last ski resort in the French Pyrenees to close the season. Its objective is not to do so until April 21 and the snowfall of this month of March seems to allow it to arrive in good conditions.
The snowfall in Cauterets has been very intense, as the images attest.
According to Météo France, the snowfall situation will no longer be repeated this week, but negative temperatures will remain throughout the Pyrenees. Tomorrow, Wednesday, should be sunnier, although the thermometer will remain quite low and it is possible that some flakes will fall at some point during the day, especially at night.
Currently, 90% of the skiable domain is open, including the operation of the Crestas chairlift and the Touyarolles ski area, so a good Easter is expected, when the bookings are high, as well as the influx to the ski slopes.
Fair but possible deadlines for the new gondola lift that should connect the village of Benasque with the ski slopes of Cerler. If all goes well, the manufacturer will be awarded this summer, and in autumn they will start working for December 2025 to be able to release it.
